Nature and Objectives
What is Coaching?
Coaching is one of the most misused buzzwords today. Unlike most people thinks, coaching is not teaching and guiding people. Coaching is the technique of bringing the best from others through assisting them to find their own answers and solutions.
Why Coaching Is Critical To Business Success Today?
In today’s knowledge-based economy, simply using traditional management skills like control and mentoring doesn’t work any more. Your staff probably is more knowledgeable about their area of specialisation than you. That’s why Coaching is the KEY TO SUCCESS in the new economy, helping you bring out the best in people to build a solid, winning team.
Now the Professional Diploma course we offer will feature in-depth discussions on the unique ‘Coaching System’ and the essential skills for coaching in a corporate setting.
History of Coaching
Business coaching started in the US in the late 1980s. At that time America underwent a transition to a knowledge-based society earlier than the rest of the world. As traditional management could no longer gain the expected results from individuals and teams, managers began to seek solutions elsewhere in order to survive. To do this they have borrowed the concepts of sports coaching, whereby a good coach can help people achieve performance excellence.

Special 1-day course for beginners and experts in business coaching
Coaching is not only about how you coach but also how your coachee improves. After all, it’s all about the effectiveness of the person you are trying to help. That’s why the 5R Coaching System places so much emphasis on how staff improves. Coaches can now use this system to assist staff to do the right thing at the right time in the right way with the right person for the right reasons. In this module, students learn how to master the necessary five macro skills for effective coaching.
1. Engagement
Every successful coaching session starts with engagement. The right engagement between you and your student starts with asking the right questions, and this result in trust, openness, clarity, effectiveness and efficiency.
2. Elevation
How can you get more from your staff? If you can elevate people’s expectations and standards, they will perform according to their new frames of reference. When they think bigger, they act bigger. The right expectation is actually the right combination of expectation and capability.
3. Expansion
Everyone sets limits and boundaries for themselves and acts accordingly. The question is whether these limits and boundaries are right or not. If you want breakthroughs for your staff and organisation, you must expand their limits and boundaries.
4. Support
If people can improve, develop and achieve success by themselves, why then do they need a coach? Because a coach can provide them with the right support to enable them to act bigger, faster and easier.
5. Getting Unstuck
One of the most common problems that people face is feeling stuck in their thinking, performance and growth. It is natural to get stuck because we are beset by so many obstacles. Coaches help people to gain the right understanding about the things that got them stuck in the first place and help them find new solutions.
